Blog readers not what you'd expect

Doug True pointed out an article on blogging that may surprise many of you. Here’s Doug’s take:
Take a look at the demographics of those who read blogs. Not what you thought, huh? I know you thought it was all teenagers – admit it. Interesting – more than 54% over the age of 35 and 56% with household incomes greater than $60k. Of the entire Internet audience – 34% are visiting blogs.
I doubt that the typical credit union executive reads blogs, but hopefully that will change soon. (Hint—a certain research institute is about to launch a new site that looks remarkably blogesque. We’ll announce it here when it happens.)

Get those “C’s” blogging!!
Even with 18-34 demos at 30% of blog visitors – what a great way to engage with the Gen Y market.
I’ve been watching Brass|Magazine (formerly Brass|CU) to see if they will branch out more into blogging (beyond Brian Simm’s – Brass’s CEO’s – periodic blog posts) to something more topic/theme oriented.
So V, when can we expect to add your blog to our list of CU blogs?
Being a 40-something who uses both Live/Greatest Journal, it doesn’t surprise me.
A challenge from Matt! :)
So we’ve been tossing around the idea of a blog about “hot topics in lending” – written by our Chief Lending Officer (who writes these types of pieces for internal staff on a fairly regular basis even today – emailed around in a word doc).
Topics like -> with gas going up, when does it make sense for me to trade in my current vehicle and buy something more fuel efficient?
I’d definitely read that one. Bring it on.
