Google Maps allows direct review submissions

It’s nothing new that Google Maps shows business reviews. They’ve been pulling from sites like Yelp (my personal fave in the review space) for a while now.
As of today, reviews can be submitted on the Maps interface. Just click “Write a Review” for instant gratification. Hat tip to the always useful Lifehacker for sharing the announcement.

Yes, but when you add another dimension, I mean mobile dimension of the whole thing, you get the …pretty much game-changer ;)
Local+Mobile+Global+Google users = ?
What does this combo tells you ?
For those who don’t get how this should affect the way you do business…
Joe Member just leaves your credit union unhappy with the level of service that they just received. Thy get to their car and pull out their blackberry, palm treo (my weapon of choice) or other internet enabled device. They leave a scathing review of your credit union before they leave the parking lot.
The power of instant communication is now in the hands of the “Common Man”. Yelp.com has been a benefit to another company that I run. It has allowed my customers to talk about what a great product we have (coffee shop) but we have to monitor the comments in the case that someone may have a bad experience.
People are talking and there are more and more tools that give the masses the ability to talk to each other and air your dirty laundry. For better or worse, it is a brave new world. Be kind to each other – and your members.

Thanks for sharing this! As a devoted Yelper, it’s good to see Google hopping on board with this.
I actually did some poking around and found one credit union here in NC had quite a few reviews written about it from some other social networking sites – all dating back to 2005 and 2006!
As I look out my window and type this in NC, the world is feeling a lot smaller today!
