Long-overdue update on our CMS open-sourceage

Posted by Matt Dean on June 27th, 2007

For those of you who are interested in the status of our open source CMS project, I just posted an update on the Trabian site.

The brief summary is that we haven’t changed our minds about open sourcing the CMS but found an existing open source CMS platform that we want to leverage for our sites instead of having it all built from scratch. We’re currently customizing and extending that platform to provide greater functionality for CU sites and will then open source those extensions.

Check out the Trabian post for more details.

Thanks everyone for your patience!

I can’t believe you are going to give it away. Are you a communist or at least a socialist?

Just kidding, as a user of the CMS, I have to say the wider distribution/examination of such an easy to use tool would benefit so many people.

Argh! You guys are killing me! I am just about to post my entry on credit union web development options and a whole section is on CMS options. I swear you must be psychic.

Anyway I am dying to know which platform you selected to build on. We were doing the same thing but had to shelve the project temporarily (client projects come first!). There just needs to be more options out there for the small credit union. I cant wait to see what you come up with. If yours is better than our – you have our support! Way to go guys!

George, you may be right. Trabian’s brand color is red, after all. I may have to stop reading books like Atlas Shrugged and Wealth of Nations to win any Socialist of the Year awards, though.

    Thanks for the kind words!

Tony, let me know if you want to help us out with it. Maybe we can put our heads together and come up with a better product as a result. That is the joy of open source, right?

If you can read this, you don't use a typical browser that renders CSS.
