Cooperative Media Coverage of CUNA's GAC '08

Posted by Brent Dixon on March 4th, 2008

This week I’m at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference. It is enormous.

I’m here working with the NCUF’s REAL Solutions to hunt down CU industry thought leaders and record their thoughts on the conference, and, in particular, gather insights on serving low-income consumers.

We’re documenting the conference through video interviews, podcasts, and photos which are all viewable (with more to come) at realsolutions.coop.

One of our chats was with Doug Fecher, CEO of Wright-Patt CU. In this video, he unpacks the story of a vocal low-income member and how it lead to their payday lending alternative StretchPay:

Also, CU Communicator Jeff Hardin and Boardcaster Ginny Brady have been covering the conference on their blogs as well. Definitely check them out.

And if you’re in town, come hang tonight at the TwittaBloggerSocial Meetup – going down at Capital City Brewing Company.

Great job with the NCUF site and capturing people on video, and great to hang with you at the meetup last night. That was very fun; looking forward to the next opportunity.

This makes everything a lot more accessible to the internet audience. Thanks for this!

    Morriss,

Thanks man. It was a lot of fun to work on. Lots of cool people and great conversation.

And thanks for arranging the meet up for everyone. I’ve said this before, but nothing beats hanging out face to face.

Have you posted that picture of Christopher Morris somewhere? It pretty much sums up the conference.

    JJ,

That’s awesome. I’m really glad it was helpful.

Brent, yes, I’m going to add that picture to the Flickr group. I’m still giggling over that photo, It’s easily my favorite of the conference (your photo of the back of the jumbotron is my second favorite). I’m still just in awe that at the Cap City Brewery, we had you, HQ’d in Dallas, Ginny Brady, Liz, and Jody Carpenter from New York, Jeff Hardin from NC, Bryan Sims from OR, Christopher Morris from WI, Rob Rutkowski and his brother from IL, your brother from SanFran, and Adam and myself from MA. I kept looking around the table, pinching myself that all these CU blogger/twitterers were all here at one table in DC. Coolness. Photos will be posted in a few.

Morriss has added the picture of me showing off my Batman tattoo from the Cap City Brewery to the private Facebook group.

And yes, I am a geek with a Batman tattoo.

Brent, It was great to see you in DC. I wrote a little on the comments that made my mind buzz. Would love to hear your thoughts.

@Christopher-Enjoyed brainstorming with you via the iphone note pad at the Wegner Dinner.
